Founder & President, Next Level Consulting, LLC

Laurie Giles has more than 25 years of experience in corporate and nonprofit governance, fundraising, compliance, and board development.

Ms. Giles’ legal practice areas include business, trust and estates, family and elder law. She serves as outside general counsel to numerous business and nonprofit organizations. Attorney Giles has served numerous judicial and governmental appointments. These appointments include Special Master – Connecticut Superior Court, Ethics Commissioner – Trumbull, CT. Hearing Officer –Bridgeport, CT Board of Education, Labor Relations Officer- Bridgeport, CT, and Co-Chair United States Justice Department convened task force- Trumbull CT.

As the Founder and President of Next Level Consulting, LLC she focuses on developing and implementing strategies for growth and sustainability for local and regional entities. Her clients are derived from multiple industries including healthcare, law, retail and community development.

Laurie, who is committed to community engagement and advocacy, volunteered as a board member, board legal counsel, and committee member to many nonprofit organizations. These organizations have included Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, Boston Chapter Links Inc., The Boston Club, Discovery Museum, Housatonic Girl Scout Council, and Raphola Taylor Branch YMCA.

From 2013- 2016 she served as the Executive Director of the Center of Responsibility and Justice at Eastern Nazarene College. While at Eastern Nazarene, she served as an Associate Professor, Chair of the Department of Psychology, Crime, Law, and Justice and elected ad hoc member of the Board of Trustees.

Laurie is the author of the What Now? Series her ability to present complex legal and business issues in an understandable manner has made her a sought-after speaker, continuing education lecture and media source.  A former radio talk show host, she has been a guest on numerous local and national radio and television shows. She has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, Hearst Connecticut Publications, Globe and Mail, Arthritis Today, Charlotte Observer, Work Style, and the Connecticut Law Tribune.

Ms. Giles received a Bachelor of Psychology from Springfield College. She received her Masters in Higher Education Administration from Eastern Nazreen College and a J.D. from Rutgers University. She also completed certified mediator training at Syracuse University. In 2013 Laurie completed the HERS- Wellesley Leadership Development Institute certificate program.

Valencia is a sales manager with several years of project management experience in assisting first-time homebuyers achieve their American dream. Throughout the years she has been a change agent and developed a passion for championing the rights of underserved communities that ensure homeownership.

Valencia serves on several non-profit Board of Directors and Committees. She is most passionate about advocating for gender equity in areas of healthcare, education and economic empowerment. As Board Chairwoman of NCBW, her responsibility includes organizational accountability to stakeholders, strategic advocacy, as well as developing partnerships across the State of CT.

She is a professor at Gateway Community College and sales manager at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. She has worked as a project manager for The Consultation Center at Yale (TCC). Prior to TCC she held multiple leadership positions in call center management for the banking and promotional technology industries.

Valencia earned an MBA from the Southern Connecticut State University and her B.A. from University of Bridgeport. She resides in New Haven with her husband and has three (3) adult children.
